Bye-laws will help dog control

Dog PSPOEast Hampshire District Council has updated its existing dog byelaws with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), following on from public consultation.

It requires dog owners in the district to clean up after their dogs and dispose of the waste responsibly. It also enables officers to issue fixed penalty notices of £100 if a dog owner is not adhering to these rules.

The PSPO also includes the exclusion of dogs from enclosed children’s play areas.

Finally, the PSPO makes it an offence not to put a dog on a lead in an EHDC-owned cemetery or when instructed to do so by an officer authorised by the council.

The order, which came into force in November 2021 can be found here: https://www.easthants.gov.uk/dogs-east-hampshire   If you know of an area where dog fouling is a problem, please email environmental.enforcement@easthants.gov.uk
