Would you use the Haslemere Hoppa if it served Headley Down?

Headley Parish Council is considering the introduction of a Community Transport Service from Headley Down to and from Haslemere. This would be in addition to the existing Stagecoach Bus Service.

The service would be provided by Haslemere Hoppa and the hours of operation limited to the availability of the Hoppa.

Features of a possible service

  • Monday to Friday.  9.30am – 2.15 pm (approx)
  • One off free registration required
  • On demand service booked in advance. Pick up at your door and drop off at your destination.
  • Recommended that the return journey booked at the same time as outward journey
  • Fare £3 single (£6 return) per person
  • Journeys can be booked for any reason and to any location in Haslemere e.g. Wey Hill, Railway Station, High Street, private addresses of friends and family.
  • Minibus is accessible
  • The service may pick up other residents on the way (ie the minibus may be shared)

A community transport service can have many benefits for a semi rural community, particularly for any of our residents who feel a little lonely or isolated or would prefer to use this form of door to door transport with helpful, friendly drivers. In other communities, several residents book regular visits to Haslemere together as a social outing. The service would be available to any resident on demand by prior booking and subject to availability.

Subject to likely demand, an initial trial pilot service is being considered with longer term continuation based on the estimated viability of the service.

We want to assess demand for a service. Your views are important to us.
