Headley Pavilion Project – News Update April 2025

The past month has been full of activity! After issuing an Invitation to Tender in 2024, the responses were carefully analysed in December and January which resulted in the selection of the most suitable contractor. After finalising contractual and financial details we signed contracts with Flint Construction Ltd., an Alresford-based company with considerable experience of this type of work.

On 26th March we held a “Pre-Commencement Meeting” where we sat around a (very large) table with the team from Flint, the main sub-contractors, our Project Architect, the Quantity Surveyor and representatives from HPC as the Client. This is where we start getting down to details – what will go where, any changes to specification etc. so all the pipes and wires will end up in the right place.

You may have noticed people working on the roof recently and this was a survey to confirm what needs to be done. We have also seen the proposals for the interior fit-out and colours, and I think it’s going to be an amazing transformation!

During early April, the last of the contents of the Pavilion will be removed and it will be closed from 7th April onwards. The contractors will arrive on site on 14th April and a security fence will be erected around the Pavilion and most of the main car park so the playing fields can still be used. Temporary toilets will be installed and these are for club use only.

Signs will be placed at the Playing Fields access points warning of the construction works taking place. Public access will continue to be available as before, and the Tennis and Bowls club activities will be largely unaffected.  We ask that all visitors to the Playing Fields keep clear of construction work and vehicles for their own safety. Parking in the lane and the Junior Football Field car parks are for club members only. Public parking will be very limited for the duration of the construction work.

We expect the work to be completed by the beginning of 2026, and we will be publishing monthly updates as work progresses. We are extremely fortunate to be able to do such a major upgrade of facilities for Headley and we are very grateful to all those who have put it such a lot of effort to bring it this far.
